Because Hamlet uses words like “Foul” and “pestilent” and “vapors” to describe what he sees.  If something is foul, it is bad smelling or gross.  A pestilence is a plague, another negative image, and vapors are usually dangerous.  All of these words carry a negative connotation, so Hamlet must be unhappy with his world.


Editing Group-

1.        Underline the thesis
2.       How many paragraphs are there?  Should be 5 or 8.
3.       Circle any typos.
4.       Circle any areas where you think there is a mistake.
5.       What’s the topic?
6.       What’s the purpose?  Do they inform or persuade or?
7.       Are paragraphs in the right order?
8.       Are the grounds in the paragraphs matching and in the same order?
