1.   Finish Work-

Sample Intro + Body Pp for song essay:

Pearl Jam is an iconic 90’s band founded by ….., and they were instrumental (ha) in the forging of the Seattle grundge scene along with mudhoney, nirvana, and mother love bone.  The lead singer, Eddie Vedder, writes most of the lyrics, and the music is created by Gossard and Ament, usually.  One of their lesser known songs, Yellow Ledbetter, is not only lyric-fluid live, but also tough to decipher.

The opening stanza begins with:
Unsealed
On a porch a letter sat
Then you said I want to leave it again
Once I saw him
On a beach of weathered sand
And on the sand I want to leave it again
According to google play music.  But from what I can tell, the lyrics have never been actually published by pearl jam, so we have to take google at its word here, for the sake of the essay.    The first lines say a “letter sat” “unsealed on a porch.”  In other words, a letter is waiting on a porch, unopened.  The narrator/speaker says that another person, presumably on the porch says “I want to leave it again.”   Leave it has two meanings here.  Leave it on the porch, and leave it unopened or ignored.  Vedder’s relationship with his estranged father is much documented, and perhaps the other person is his mom, and the letter from his dad who has abandoned him.  This is just supposition, but immediately after this the singer writes, “Once I saw him on…sand and…I want to leave it again.”  Him could refer to the father, and it, again to the letter that he and his mom refuse to open.
